Create a Target Using the And/Or Logic
dialogEDU’s new Targeting Logic feature allows you to use multiple target filters at the same time. The logic uses And/Or conditions to populate users from separate filters into one target group.
Goal: This week’s tip will demonstrate how the Targeting Logic feature works and how to apply the And/Or Logic to a target group.
In our example, we will be using the user’s course progress and grade to populate them into target groups using the And/Or logic.
See below for the data that we will be using.
“And” Condition
Using the “AND” condition will populate users into your target because they simultaneously fit all of the criteria set for each filter. For example, you can create a target group that has as its criteria, Students who finished the course AND earned a grade less than or equal to 80 percent. This condition will populate users into the target when they fit the criteria for BOTH filters.
“Or” Condition
Using the “OR” condition will populate users into your target who fit one filter or the other. For example, Students who finished the course OR earned greater than or equal to 90 percent. This condition will populate users into the target when they fit the criteria for EITHER one of the two filters.
Follow these steps to create a target using the And/Or condition
Step 1: Go to the back-end of your institution’s site
Step 5: Click Save and Continue
Step 6: Setup your target filters accordingly
Watch the clip below to see how it’s done
Please note: You can also apply And/Or logic to an existing target, by simply updating the condition in the Target Settings tab. Remember that the “And” condition will be selected by default.
